Last House Down the Lane...

It was the seventh family that rented that house since they had left it. The pretty red mansion with it's charm attracted as many people as could afford it.
"Take the grey one to the hall down the left" said Samir to the house help. The tiny man carried the grey bag like he had to the rest of the bags and kept it on the floor. "Meera, did you check if all your bags are in?" Samir inquired from Meera, his wife and to be mother of his child due to be delivered after 6 months.
Meera nodded, adjusted her veil and they stepped in.
The main entrance was staged by a little entre to the Drawing Room, it was majorly empty but for a little sound making toy like meant for toddlers. She ignored it and moved about to the Drawing Room. The Drawing Room was covered in white sheets, and sheets were covered with little filths of dust as it was recently drawn up.
She started unpacking the bags of kitchenware in the attached kitchen to the Dining Space. He went upstairs to freshen up and start the day of unpacking.
Meera and Samir had been married for a year by now. The transfer of job had meant they were to leave behind both of their families and start their new lives in a completely new city.
Meera cleaned up the base floor and kept her bag on the desk. To relax herself, she unveiled the sofa covers and made herself comfortable.
14 hours of journeying by the train had meant all the weariness that looked clearly in her eyes. She closed her eyes for a few seconds to relax herself and the next minute she was asleep.

While Samir unpacked their cloth bags and filled up the shelves after a shower, he sensed a movement in the tree behind the window visible. He checked and found nothing. He started doing the same again till all the bags were unpacked. Moving down the staircase, Samir sensed an unusual sound alongside the sound of himself stepping downstairs. It was like someone was following him and suddenly when he paused to check his back, it felt like someone stopped too.
He did not pay much ear to it and stepped ahead to see Meera restlessly settled in a cushion less sofa. He sat by her and caressed her forehead. It was too sweaty. Meera awoke by the caressing and smiled at him. "come, I've arranged the bed room, you can fall asleep in there. If you want to, take a shower and then sleep". "I think I should complete the kitchen before I do the rest" replied Meera with reddening eyes due to sleep deprivation.

The next morning, the bags were repacked, movers arrived and they left the house. No one knows why no one could ever stay there.
